PIXLRec pattern recognition
Introduction
PIXLRec is a pattern-recognition program operating in the ATLAS
Inner Detector (Pixels+Strips+TRT).
Emphasis is put on exploiting pixel fine granularity: the pattern-recognition
starts from the pixel innermost layer and goes outwards.
Thanks to routines provided by I.Gavrilenko, PIXLRec is now able to treat
correctly multiple scattering in the fit procedure, and also can use TRT.
The aim is to test an alternate algorithm for track-finding, and thus
get a more reliable understanding of the Inner Detector performances,
especially in the b-tagging area.
However, PIXLRec is not a professional package, and no attempt was
made to develop a high-performance program: this is particulary
true concerning its speed. PIXLRec is mainly intended to perform
precise tracking in small regions (e.g. one jet), and its use on
a whole event is very slow.
PIXLRec is fully integrated in the New Dice-3 framework: it can
thus perform full simulations, using detailled and up-to-date
geometry and digitizations descriptions. It can be used
interactively with Atlsim .
PIXLRec is based on standard routines developped in
ATRECON reconstruction package.
PIXLRec has been developped in the CPPM
ATLAS
Pixel group
by AR and
LV , following
the pioneering work done by MTh with TrackNFit.
